After visiting Venice, it was again time for some nature experience – ultimately, I am a doggy, and I need green space and ideally some water to exercise and play. My mom decided to have a stay in Bardolino at the famous Lake Garda. This is the largest lake in Italy, hence the perfect playground for a water-addict like me! The Lake Garda region is extremely sweet, with olive groves and Mediterranean cypresses contrasting against the blue color of the lake and the sky (well, at least if the weather is sunny – but we were lucky with four days of autumn sunshine!).
The first days, we strolled around at the shore of the Lake towards the center of Bardolino and Garda (since my dad is not that much of a hiker!). Both are very picturesque cities. I took all the chances I got to play with my ball in the water and to keep mom and dad busy! After so much strolling around, it was time again for a bigger hike up to the Rocca di Garda, a rocky mountain which is situated 300 meters above Garda and offers magnificent views of the Lake – just beautiful! The first part of the hike was pretty steep – but with my brilliant hiking skills I was fast like a rabbit (only my mom slowed me down, I had to wait a couple of times for her…). It was a perfect hiking day! The only fly in the ointment was the fact that my dad already had to leave us last night, so I was a bit sad – I will miss him!
The campsite we are staying hosts a small animal park where dogs are allowed. I could make lots of new friends, as you can see in the pictures (even though I was a bit scared of the ostriches!). And the campsite also organized a doggy weekend – how cool is that? I participated in a treasure hunt (together with 7 other dogs) – unfortunately my sniffer was too distracted and I did not win. But we all had a lot of fun, and all doggies got a consolation gift. Guess what was in the gift package? A squeaky ball which made my day!
