Did you know that Istria is a very famous truffle region? My mom told it to me, and she also explained that in these days, not pigs but dogs are used for truffle hunting. Our sniffers can locate the delicious truffles as good as pigs, but most of all, we do not eat them like the pigs, and we do not destroy the environment by digging, but only indicate with our delicate paws where they are located so that the humans can carefully get them out of the earth. Inspired by so much dog intelligence, I went for truffle hunting myself on our hike through the outback of Rovinj! Although I tried hard, my attempts were not rewarded. I am simply not trained for it – what a pity! I have to tell my dog trainer Harlie (Nero Dog Training) when we are back home to train my sniffers so that I can find them as well and earn some money for my mom – hehehe.
Instead of truffles, we have seen some ancient Romanic churches and walls which look very picturesque against the blue skies and the olive groves. But to be honest, I was more interested in jumping into the water afterwards and playing with my ball!
